						 Server Guide

Please note, this guide is for those of which who know how to run a UT server.
There's not much to running a SWAT Server. If you know how to run a UT server, then
SWAT will be just as simple.

After you install SWAT, open up your UnrealTournament.ini file. There, make sure
under ServerPackages that the following lines are there:

ServerPackages=s_SWAT
ServerPackages=s_SWATModels

If not, add them, and your server will be ready for SWAT.

First off, load up UT on the system. Then, go to the "Multiplayer" and select
"Start New Multiplayer Game". Under "Game type" select "SWAT beta 1". Then below,
choose the map which you want the game to start on. Below, click the "Map List"
button, and you can choose the list of maps to be cycled. Close that window, and
then make sure that "Auto Change Levels" is checked, or else the levels will not
automatically switch.

Next, click the "Rules" tab. The "Time Limit" is the amount of time between each map
is changed on a server. We recommend that you set it to 20 minutes per map,
although the value can be change to any link. The slider below that section is
"Friendly Fire", which disables/enables Friendly Fire. You can set it to any percentage
you wish. At 0%, no Friendly Fire will be dealt, although this provides the most
fair circumstances in the game (Team Killing is impossible). By cranking up the
Friendly Fire, people in the game are able to kill eachother, leading to the
possiblity of Team Killers (aka, Player Killers, aka TKs, aka PKs, etc...). However
at this setting the most realism is provided. It is up to the server administrator
to decide which is the best setting for their server.

Next is the "Settings" tab, which controls game settings. First is the Round Duration,
which controls how much time there is per round. Rounds are different than the limit, because
the limit changes (and reloads) a map, while rounds only reset the map (reset glass, reset
deaths, etc...). This value is set to 5 minutes by default, as we feel this is the best length.
Beneath that is the Briefing Duration, which displays the information for the level at the beginning
of the game (in terms of seconds). It is set to 8 by default. The following two features
regard to network play. "Disabling Ballistics" and "Reducing Effects" help to improve network
performance, although they take away some of the cool effects that SWAT has. Unless you
are playing a LAN or a Single Player Game, we recommend you disable these in order to
provide the best possible experience for your players. The final feature on this page is
"Disable Real Damages." Real Damages can be defined in the following:
In the real world, people cannot drop 10 feet without hurting themselves. In the UT
world, characters can. This feature disables the UT physics, and implies more realistic
physics which make players think twice before they see an enemy at the beneath a bridge
	or somewhere beneath them.
We recommend that Disabling Real Damages is not turned on for the reason above. It just adds
much more realism to the game, and fits our theme slightly better.

OK, next is the "Bots" tab, which is the same as UT's. I'm not gonna spend much time on it because
it's pretty self expanatory. Ditto with the "Server" tab, except make sure in the title of your
server you have somewhere that it's a SWAT server, and that "Advertise Server" is checked (in
order to get it on the SWAT Server Browser).

Once you've done all these things, hit the button at the bottom of the Start Network Game window
entitled "Dedicated" in order to start a Dedicated SWAT Server. UT will then quit, and boot
up the Dedicated Server interface (you can see that it's working by looking in the Windows
task bar for a UT icon).

Yer all done by now, so enjoy!
